Sitting on a promontory jutting into Dunmanus Bay, Blairscove House enjoys a stunning waterside location. Around the courtyard of a Georgian House, beautifully restored with cobbled paths, shrubs and flowers, are the restaurant and four stylish suites or small apartments which can be rented on a B&B or self-catering basis. Formerly a piggery, coach house and servants quarters each suite is totally individual in style and furnished with a dashing mixture of modern and antique furniture and original art work.

The restaurant, on one side of the courtyard quadrangle, used to be the properties stable building. 250 years old it is lofty, stone walled and black beamed with a magnificent chandelier as the central feature. It is high like a church and the tall windows overlooking Dunmanus Bay were recesses through which the hay was pushed down to the animals from the loft above. Some say that about 250 years ago the building was part of fortifications complete with two watchtowers.

In October 1981, after extensive restoration works, the restaurant opened its doors.

Right from the start we became known for the best of Irish meat grilled on a roaring fire in the dining room, an impressive display of ‘help yourself’ starters as well as a mouth-watering selection of desserts. This has not changed in all the years except that the freshest of seafood has been added to the selection. We use local produce as much as possible and all our dishes are prepared in-house.

For our efforts we have received two AA rosettes for culinary excellence for a number of years and are featured in all the leading guides.

Blairscove is much loved by its patrons who come time and time again.....

georginaCampbell‘Lofty, stone-walled and black-beamed, the restaurant has great character, with a magnificent chandelier as the central feature, and impressive gilt-framed family portraits on the walls.

Together with Sabine's brother Ronald Klotzer, who is head chef, the De Meys offer the wonderful food and service that this stylishly atmospheric restaurant is known for: their unique table d’hote dinner begins with the renowned buffet starter display, which is followed by a wide choice of meat and fish dishes simply cooked on the wood-fired grill.

Local cheeses are still offered, of course, and a meal here always ends on a high note, with the famous dessert selection - formerly displayed on the grand piano, these sweet temptations are now laid out on a sideboard in the conservatory, allowing diners to linger more discreetly over those difficult choices... ‘
